The Forth Bridges Trail is a recently created 5-mile circular route linking North and South Queensferry on the Firth of Forth. Connected by three landmark bridges spanning three centuries, the trail offers visitors a chance to explore the area’s history, local stories, unique character, and diverse wildlife. A bespoke map was commissioned by local artist Jenny Proudfoot to reflect the spirit of both communities. The map illustrates the next interpretive point along the route and highlights key buildings and landmarks to add interest.

As part of the illustrative commission, unique graphic roundals were also designed highlighting The Burryman - a 400-year-old traditional folk custom in South Queensferry, and in North Queensferry, Pilgrims (old and new) travelling to in St Andrews, the starting point of the Fife Pilgrim Way.

Bespoke cast iron waymarkers and directional fingerposts guide walkers and cyclists around North and South Queensferry are forged by Ratho Byres Forge. They are painted in “Forth Bridge Red,” a colour chosen to match the iconic riveted steelwork of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Forth Bridge.
