Life on the Edge

OPW

2022

Bright conceived, designed and delivered an immersive multimedia exhibition at the Blasket Centre, using projection, soundscape and interactive technology to bring the history, culture and literary legacy of the Blasket Islands to life for visitors through a contemporary and engaging visitor experience.

The renewed visitor experience includes a digital soundscape recreating a traditional namhóg boat journey to Great Blasket Island, alongside immersive floor and wall projections that simulate the surrounding Atlantic environment.

The Blasket Islands are renowned for their literary heritage, producing celebrated works such as The Islandman, Twenty Years A-Growing and Peig, documenting island life before the community’s evacuation in 1953.
