Commissioned by Údarás na Gaeltachta, Bright designed visual identity and an immersive and bilingual visitor experience at Ionad Cultúrtha an Phiarsaigh that explores both Patrick Pearse’s legacy and the cultural landscape of Connemara, combining interactive interpretation, audio-visual storytelling and reflective exhibition spaces to connect visitors with the region’s language, history and identity.

Patrick Pearse, leader of the 1916 rebellion against British rule, spent his summers in Ros Muc between 1909 and 1915, drawn by Connemara’s landscape, folklore and living Gaelic culture, which deeply influenced his belief that language was central to Irish national identity.

The exhibition was developed with a strong emphasis on bilingual interpretation, carefully reflecting the importance of the Irish language in the heart of the Gaeltacht. Bright developed a bespoke typeface which referenced the area’s Gaelic heritage.

The interpretive approach prioritised human interaction alongside digital media, with local guides, audio-visual content and interactive exhibits designed to create a welcoming and culturally grounded visitor experience.
